Plans Down the Drain
My plan for the day was to run in a race this morning and then to do some nice things for when Jeff got back from Yale.
This morning when I woke up, it was raining and I was extremely tired. I decided that instead of getting up and running that I would go back to sleep. I did. And for two extra hours. I must have really needed that!
I went to the grocery store and got all that I wanted in order to do the nice things I wanted to do for Jeff. I planned on making sauce and some macaroni for him. It would be delicious. Okay, maybe it wouldn't be delicious, but it would be a nice gesture! I also bought these delicious fudge brownies to make for him. These, I knew would be delicious. Not much can be done to ruin fudge brownies! With this plan in action, I planned on starting everything up at about 4 o'clock, so it would be done in plenty of time. I was expecting Jeff home a little later in the evening. Just guestimating on that, I had no real time frame given from him.
So, at 2:30 when Jeff walked through the door, I was surprised. I must say, while I was disappointed I didn't have all these wonderful things ready for him, I was not disappointed in the least to see him! I told him my plans and with my cooking history, we decided to go out to dinner instead. The Cheesecake Factory has a better food repertoire than I do anyways!

Freihofer's Run for KP
At the end of the day yesterday, a co-worker, we will call her KP, approached me with an offer. She had registered for the Freihofer's Run for Women and was unable to go. Knowing that I enjoy running, she offered me her spot in return for, well, nothing really. Nothing except my running time will be published in the newspaper with her name next to it.
Although I gave no definite answer, I knew I would do it. I am a sucker for races. Especially when I (or someone else) is already registered and all I have to do is show up. The only problem I foresaw was remembering that I had to be KP.
Since the Freihofer's is a fairly big race, there is a whole check-in procedure. Luckily none of that procedure required photo identification, but it did require you to know your name. This was my biggest concern, so I was overly aware of the fact that I needed to be KP. I had to find my (KP's) name on a list and find out what my bib number would be. I read the bib number quickly and returned to the table, concentrating greatly on the fact that my name was KP. The man handing out the bibs asked me my number and I said that I was KP. He thought that was wonderful, then asked for my number again. I gave it to him. 3133. Problem, 3133 was gone. Crap, with all my focus on remembering that I was KP, I didn't really pay enough attention to what my number was. Once I figured it out (3113), I explained to the man how I, KP, had dyslexia.
Anyways, the race was fine and dandy. A fast course with some real elite runners leading the way. The winner finished in 15 minutes and some change. Being concerned that I would win KP's age group, I slowed up just a bit. I knew if I was called up as the winner of the 35-39 age group with my 15 year old face I would be accused of fraud, and rightfully so. Not to worry, KP still got a personal record of a time. She is very excited to see how she did in the paper tomorrow.
After the race, we were rewarded with Friehofer's cookies. Very fitting.
Even more fitting, I thought anyways, was the fact that there was a big Price Chopper truck. KP is somewhat of a local celebrity as she stars in a few Price Chopper commercials. I was unaware of the seriousness of her level of celebrity until I got a good look at that Price Chopper truck. While KP was unable to run, she was actually right there at the race!
Maybe if I got a truck with Jeff's larger than life picture on it, I wouldn't miss seeing his smiling face as much. Well, at least I get to see him again tomorrow! Who needs a truck when you go the real thing?

Comfort
One and a half days with my husband and I am in a comfort zone. Just in time for him to go work a basketball camp in Connecticut, but I know he will be back Sunday night. Much better than the weeks upon weeks!
My comfort began when waking up next to Jeff. The two mornings it happened, the comfort was not warranted. My alarm went off to wake me up, and so comfortable, I turned it off a dozed back off loving the idea of being next to Jeff. Both days I did this. I guess I was subconsciously trying to steal more time.
Last night we went out to dinner. Probably my first dinner out since I was last with Jeff. Anyways, we got talking about my move to Cleveland. Loosely planning it out, discussing our options, and talking about the people that we know we will be spending time with. My job will be to find us a place to live in July. Jeff will be on the road a bit in July so he will not be able to look. Not that it would be beneficial for him to look anyways.
You see, Jeff gets very bored and frustrated with the whole process. What he ultimately ends up doing is just taking whatever place he is looking at when his patience comes to an end. It could be a ten cent hole in the wall with mice running across his feet. If he has had enough, that is the place he will take. So, it is a good idea to keep him out of this whole process.
Needless to say, with our looking forward last night piled on top of my already peaked anxiousness, I am getting very excited to become a Clevelander. So much so that my pathetic a$$ stayed in on a Friday night and searched some options of places to live. And, while it is pathetic and I admit it, it only adds to my excitement. No matter where the place is, I know I will be able to fall back into my real comfort zone when Jeff, Shea, and I are together in whatever that place may be. Even if it is rat infested, although I prefer not!

Koola
Being home for a whole day and a half, Jeff had a lot of people to see. So, as anyone would do, he took a nap and watched movies all day. Oh well, as long as he remembered to visit me, I am happy. Selfish, I know, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't true.
In crossing one of those visitations off, we went to visit Jeff's friend Mike and his fiance, Beth. Even more to our liking, they had rescued a puppy today. A beautiful little one-year old lab mix. Mike told us her name was Sheala after our big Shea. He lied. They named her Koola. While Mike and Beth had convinced themselves that Koola was a pretty good sized dog, they realized she is a dwarf when face to face with Shea.
Koola has a lot of energy. When meeting and greeting Shea, she acted like a lady. Actually she acted more like a tramp than a lady. This was the greeting:
Shea doesn't really seem to mind. However, he did mind when Koola jumped off the deck onto his face. He minded so much, my gentle giant growled at her. Just letting his new friend to never do that again apparently.
I'm glad we all have a new puppy friend to hang out with. Jeff and Shea really hit it off with Koola. I know Shea will really enjoy her company. At least for the next three weeks. Then, who knows when they will see each other again?

A Vision in Blue
Today we had the friendship games at school. Nothing better than a good day of games and forming friendships!
Ask me if that last statement was true at 2:30 and I would have absolutely agreed. The kids had a wonderful time, it was a beautiful day, and I was able to capture a $h*tload of flags while I was playing capture the flag!
Ask me that question at 2:45 and I would beg to differ. As we were sitting in the classroom, finishing our final activity of the day, sneaking in a small piece of learning, I peered up at the door. I peered up at the door to see a vision in blue. Jeff, in a blue shirt, standing in my doorway. Beauty at it's finest!
My first instinct was to jump up, run across the room, and fall into his arms. As I began to do just that, I realized that there were 50 little eyes watching me. I had already jumped up and caught their attention. I was a few steps into my run and decided I needed to slow it down to a fast walking pace. Rather than falling into his arms, I went into the hallway and got the hug I've been longing for.
The reunion of Jeff and Shea was very similar except Shea did not need to recoil the jumping up, running, and falling into his arms. He did just that with all the exuberance you would expect from Shea. So, for now, even if it isn't for very long, the family is back together. The way it should be! Thank you, Lord, for that vision in blue!

Wednesday or Thursday?
I am expecting to see Jeff's smiling face either tomorrow or Thursday. Hoping for tomorrow, but I will certainly take Thursday. I will take anything. With that, the anticipation is killing me! Okay, not killing me, but it's making me weak, very much like the Heinz Ketchup commercial a few years back.
I can't wait to see that perfect smile of his. To get a big hug, and maybe a little kiss. I can't wait to hear Shea's tail bounce off of anything and everything that is near as all of his happiness shines through in the excessive wagging.
Tomorrow or Thursday. I've made it this long, I keep telling myself I can make it the rest of the way. Lucky for me tomorrow is our 5th grade friendship games. This means my mind will be occupied playing kiddie gym games all day long. There is no doubt the day will go fast, cutting down on my anticipation time. Thursday, we don't really have anything going on to occupy my mind.
So, Jeff, how about you show tomorrow and take away the anticipation on Thursday? I would really love the extra day with you!
