The first few days of the month I was getting in anywhere from seven to 12 miles. But, as the competition got more intense, the number of miles per day did as well. We are both extremely competitive and took this competition to a whole new level. In all honesty and ugliness, we were basically running a marathon each and everyday. Looking at the records kept from last January, my longest day was January 28th. I ran for over seven hours for a total of 47.6 miles. Crazy, right? I finished up the month of January with over 585 miles. Jonathan finished with 7 more miles than me. In the grand scheme of things, when you are talking close to 600 miles, that is pretty close.
Anyways, in the spirit of competition, we have decided to throw another challenge into the month of January. This one is a bit less structured. It is a competition that we will both prepare for on our own without any sort of reporting. At the end of the month an event will take place. The exact details of the event have not been completely ironed out, but the general idea is there. There will be a circuit race done in half mile increments. In between each half mile a series of physical tests will be done, such as push-ups, squat thrusts, etc. A real test of fitness, not just running.
