Walking on Clouds

Some may call me crazy. Last night, here in good old Schenectady, I bundled up and hit the concrete for a nice, long run. With a daytime high of 20, but a windchill of 9, the evening temperature was significantly lower. My layers upon layers helped keep me warm, as did my brisk pace. Today however, I decided to go the more conservative route.

After talking to the gym teacher at my school, he informed me that it is actually somewhat normal and acceptable to run through the halls of the middle school after school hours. Having always been told to not run in the halls, I had some uncertainty about this, but took his word for it.

It worked and it was wonderful! Nobody to bother me. A loop around the downstairs and upstairs was the equivalent of a quarter of a mile so it was easy to keep track of how far I went. The stairs added a little extra umph to the workout. Only a few people passed through the hallways and nobody even looked at me funny.

I didn't play any music while I was running in fear of curse words being blasted through the hallways. Even though no kids were there, it just didn't feel right! So, to keep my mind occupied and from getting bored by the rote laps, I sang in my head. Making it through a number of songs, I ended my run while silently belting out Carly Simon's "You're So Vain."

This is wear my amazingly talented gift-giving husband came into play. With tired feet, I hopped out of my shoes and into my new Christmas Uggs. Uggs better than any other Uggs you have seen before.

I know! The most styling Uggs ever, right? As I slipped my feet into these pillows of softness, I literally let out a sigh. Jeff had gotten me the perfect Uggs. The Uggs that make me feel weightless. Carly Simon may have had clouds in her coffee, but I am walking on clouds. I think that is much better. Thanks, Jeff!
