The hype for the game started two weeks ago. We got our student's excited about what was to come so that they would want to come. Little did we know how many would actually be there to support the cause. Everyone participating in the game and the volunteers received t-shirts. To give the final push to students, we wore the t-shirts around school today.
All of the little things we did to push this game worked! Standing room only. The game, the bake sale, and the raffle brought in over $4,800. My team lost, but the event as a whole was certainly a success!
After the game a high school student came up to me and told me that they all thought I was "dirty." Well, I thought, these kids don't know what I do on my weekends, how can they possibly think I am dirty? In fact, even if they knew what I do on me weekends, there is nothing that can justify me being dirty! You see, to me, dirty means filth dirty. I had to ask what she meant. Boy, I have never felt older! Apparently dirty means good. Kind of like when I was in high school we used to say someone was "nasty," and that meant good. I guess I will take being dirty as a compliment.
We got lots of publicity from the local newspapers and news stations. I will make sure to post a link when I can find one. I was interviewed by one of the stations, but I doubt I will actually make an appearance, speaking anyways. I've been interviewed plenty of times for the newspaper, television, and radio. And, when things aren't live, my answers usually get clipped or cut completely. Oh well, I try.
As per usual with Jeff, he asked if I embarrassed him. Jeff, I'm dirty! Do you think I embarrassed you? If I did, it wasn't on the court, it was in the interview!
