Full Court Press

The hoopla of last night's Hoops for Haiti basketball game was in the air all day today. It may have been all of the press, (Hoops For Haiti on the news) or maybe it was the pure excitement spilling over from the game.

Each morning I grab a copy of the local paper when I get to school. This morning, before I had a chance, a former student shoved one in my face and said, "there you are!" And sure enough, there I was. A little picture on the front page playing some basketball.

Yes, that's me in the bottom picture. Here, take a closer look:
I know it's not clear, but take a picture of a picture in the newspaper and see how you do! The truth is, in the picture, I am slapping the guy in red. There it is, immortalized in the newspaper. Me fouling. All day long kids throughout the school came up to me. The younger ones came up and would just stare at me. They didn't have much to say. It could have been really awkward if they weren't, on average, six years old. The older ones, the ones who understand basketball a little bit, simply made fun of me for fouling on the front page of the paper.

Much like the older students, Jeff, who was 450 miles away for the game, has found ways to tease me about the game. On one clip from the news, Jeff focused on my somewhat weak defense. The picture above only proves his case in point. Caught red handed!
